Published Charing Cross, 1808

Portrait painter, caricaturist and designer of decorative subjects and etcher of caricatures. Dighton worked in London and began etching his own caricatures late in life, beginning his well-known series of humorous portraits in the 1790’s. He achieved certain notoriety when he was discovered to have taken some Rembrandt etchings from the British Museum.
