Botany Australian Wild Flowers antique Chromolithograph 1898

Wild Flowers native to Eastern and South Eastern Australia from Southern Queensland to Tasmania and West to South east South Australia. The species are known as Australian Heaths, Red Correa, Lilac Tetratheca, Coprosma, Acacia, golden blossoms of Acacia, Purple Convolvulus.

Antique chromolithograph  after paintings by Alexander Sutherland Murray to illustrate his record "Twelve Hundred Miles of the River Murray" that followed the journal of Charles Sturt in 1829 when he discovered the longest river in Australia, The Mighty Murray. A.S.Murray comments on the effects the river boat and farming activities have had on the flora, birdlife and impact of feral animals like the rabbit- "No one in England can imagine what a frightful pest rabbits are”.  ( See Histroy Revisited Blog )
