South Australia was a prototype British colony breaking away from the Australian convict stereotype and tagged as,"A Slice of London in the Antipodes"  to emphasize that significant point of difference from the convict transportation colonial experience. South Australia sold land at a "sufficient price" so assisted emigrants would be required to work to save for their chance of independence, often not available in Europe. These incremental images help to paint a picture of how it developed from Colonel William Light's Plan of the city in 1837...
