Contributed to one of Rackham Gift Books to raise funds for those suffering in Belgium. A tribute to the heroism of the Belgian people in their attempt to defend Belgium from the German invasion during World War 1. The German invasion of Belgium began on August 4, 1914. Earlier, on July 24, the Belgian government had announced that if war came it would uphold its neutrality. Term "The Rape of Belgium" is the usual historical term regarding the treatment of civilians during the 1914-18 German invasion & occupation of Belgium. The term initially had a propaganda use but recent historiography confirms its reality. Arthur Rackham was the most sort after illustrators in "The Golden Age of Book Illustrators" 1860-1930
