Eurene von Guerard (1811-1901) was born in Austria, where he studied landscape paining, arriving in in the colony of Victoria in 1851. It was a Colony full of optomism as it had just separated from New South Wales and Gold Fever had struck. He spent the next 30 years travelling and recording this new country.
